I recently had the opportunity to tour an active Marcellus shale well site in northern Pennsylvania and learn more about the natural gas extraction process. While much controversy surrounds this industry’s exploration efforts in our state, a great deal of progress has been made with regard to environmental impact.
Here are four brief videos I hope you will take time to review. All of them discuss various aspects of Marcellus shale, including efforts to address the issue of interaction with the local water supply. I am pleased progress has been made in recycle of water recovered from the well development process and little, if any, of the water needs to be treated for disposal. With proper oversight, Marcellus shale gas will be a great economic opportunity for Pennsylvania and supply much of our future energy needs. What is Marcellus shale?
