HARRISBURG – Rep. Brett Miller (R-East Hempfield) has been appointed to serve on the board of the PA State Employee’s Retirement System (SERS). SERS manages the pension benefits of nearly 240,000 employees and retirees for 101 public sector employers.
“Strengthening our two state pension systems is a primary focus of my work as a state representative,” Miller said. “Having the opportunity to serve on this board will allow me to have a closer view into the workings of this expansive system that will help with drafting legislation that brings greater transparency for the public, as well as stronger pension systems so the state can meet its obligations to pension plan beneficiaries.”
The SERS system is overseen by an 11-member board, including four members of the Pennsylvania Legislature. Newly-elected Speaker of the House Joanna McClinton (D-Philadelphia) submitted Miller’s name for inclusion on the board.
