Miller Announces Funding for First Responders, Public Facilities and Park Upgrades

September 15, 2026

State grant funding totaling $1,738,372 was awarded to five community development projects in the 41st Legislative District, according to Rep. Brett Miller (R-East Hempfield). These investments will strengthen local services, support our first responders, and ensure the community continues to thrive for residents and businesses.

"I'm so pleased this grant funding has been awarded for these projects. In my conversations with municipal leaders, they made a strong case for why each was important,” Miller said. “In turn, I was glad to advocate at the state level for these awards because each one of these projects addresses real, tangible needs in our community, and each will help make our neighborhoods stronger and our residents safer.”

The grant awards include:

Columbia Borough, $300,000 to help replace rotted beams under the Columbia Crossing River Trails Center, to enhance safety and structural integrity for the popular community and educational hub.

Columbia Borough, $889,498 for several necessary upgrades to the facility and the parking lot of the Columbia Borough Fire Department.

East Hempfield Township, $38,472 to help the East Hempfield Township Police Department purchase 15 tasers to equip officers with reliable, less-than-lethal technology.

Mountville Borough, $350,000 to help renovate the Mountville Borough Community Park with new playground equipment, athletic fields, and upgraded parking lots.

West Hempfield Township and Mountville Borough, $160,402 to install a new keycard system at Iron Ridge Fire Rescue's two fire stations to help protect the stations and equipment and help eliminate any risk of increasing response times.

LSA grants are funded through state gaming revenue. The funding for these projects was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania's economic growth.
