Revenue from slot machine gaming is now providing supplemental property tax rebates to homeowners who pay more than 15 percent of their household income in property taxes. There is no special paperwork to file for this supplemental rebate, and the Department of Revenue will calculate eligibility for applicants.
As of May 29, the Revenue Department had received more than 517,000 rebate applications. About 578,000 older Pennsylvanians and residents with disabilities are expected to benefit from the program this year, compared to 310,000 prior to 2006.
The Department of Revenue will begin distributing rebate checks on July 1.
Property Tax/Rent Rebate claim forms are available by contacting your state representative’s office or visiting his Web site. In addition to application materials for the rebate, individuals can also check the status of an existing rebate claim, by visiting their representative’s site and clicking on “Where’s My Property Tax Refund?”
