Miller Reminds Homeowners to File Homestead/Farmstead Exclusion Forms
2/24/2010

State Representative Ron Miller (R-Jacobus) is reaching out to all homeowners in York County who may not have filed for the Homestead/Farmstead Exclusion under the Taxpayer Relief Act of 2006.

The Taxpayer Relief Act, Act 1 of Special Session 1 of 2006, was signed into law by Governor Rendell on June 27, 2006. The Taxpayer Relief Act provides for property tax reduction allocations to be distributed by the Commonwealth to each school district. Property tax reduction will be through a “homestead or farmstead exclusion.”

To determine if you have applied and been approved, please check your school tax bill from last year.  If you are signed up it will show a reduction for Homestead Exemption.  If you are signed up you do not need to sign up again.

Anyone in doubt can also call the York County Tax Assessment office at (717) 771-9232 to check their status.  If you are not signed up, the deadline for the 2010-11 tax year is March 1st.

Homestead/Farmstead Exclusion forms are available through your local school office, or by visiting Miller’s Web site, RepMiller.com, and clicking on Property Tax Relief.
