Biography
This is state Rep. Ron Miller’s eighth term in office, having first been elected to serve the residents of the 93rd Legislative District in 1998. The 93rd District consists of the townships of Codorus, Manheim, Shrewsbury, Springfield, West Manheim and York (Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, and Divisions 1 and 2 of Ward 5); and the boroughs of Dallastown, Glen Rock, Jacobus, Jefferson, Loganville, New Freedom, Railroad, Seven Valleys, Shrewsbury and Yoe.
For the 2013-14 legislative session, Rep. Miller, a past majority chairman of the House Labor and Industry Committee, has been appointed majority chairman of the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee. He is also a member of the House Transportation Committee, and serves as chairman of the seven-member Pennsylvania delegation to the Chesapeake Bay Commission.
Rep. Miller has been named a Guardian of Small Business by the National Federation of Independent Business. Guardians of Small Business were awarded to members of the General Assembly who voted favorably on key small-business issues at least 75 percent of the time during the 2011-12 session.

Previous to his election to the state House, Ron was the safety, health and environmental manager for
Adhesives Research
in
Glen Rock,
where he had been employed for 25 years.
Ron’s community service began when he became a member of the Jacobus Recreation Board, which enabled him to assist in the formation of the regional recreation association, which serves
Jacobus
,
Loganville
and
Springfield Township
.
Rep. Miller also served as a representative of industry on the Local Emergency Planning Committee. He served as both chairman and vice chairman during his many years on this committee. Ron was also appointed by the York County Commissioners to a position in Emergency Planning Services. He chaired a study committee that made recommendations on provisions of hazardous material (haz-mat) services to
York County
and cooperative arrangements between two volunteer haz-mat teams.
Ron was elected to the
Dallastown School Board
in 1988 and served for 10 years, several of which were as chairman of the Buildings and Grounds Committee. He also served as representative for the
Dallastown School Board
to the
York County Vocational Technical School Board.
In addition, Ron also served as the Vo Tech School Board’s treasurer and vice chairman.
In 1995, the
York County
Commissioners appointed Ron to serve on the York County Private Industry Council. He also used his business and educational experience in his membership on the York County Program Planning and Review Committee, which coordinated with programs that provide job placement for displaced workers and disadvantaged youth.
Rep. Miller is a member of the
Jacobus Fire Company
and the Jacobus Lions Club and he continues to serve as a York County Republican Committeeman.
Ron was raised in
Loganville
and graduated from
Dallastown Area High School.
He attended
Mansfield University
, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in secondary education. He and his wife Kitty reside in
Jacobus
.
